Hamburger Sportjugend

Who is the Hamburger Sportjugend ? (short form: HSJ – English translation: Hamburg Sport Youth)
The HSJ is the independent children's and youth organization of the Hamburger Sportbund e.V. (Hamburg Sport Association). More than 800 sports clubs with more than 194,000 children, adolescents and young adults up to 26 years are members of us. This makes us the largest youth association in Hamburg and a recognized provider of free youth welfare. We see ourselves as an umbrella organization and a lobbyist for all children and sports in Hamburg. We are not focused on any specific sport. Our action fields are:
- qualifications, training and education in the sporting youth work
- financial support of clubs, associations and minors from low-income families
- educational support of volunteering in sport
- advice and support of sports clubs in cooperation with schools
- advising and training on the prevention of sexual violence in sport
- promotion of young engagements in sport
- international Youth Work
- operation of the resort Schönhagen

What goals and content does the HSJ pursue with International Youth Meetings?
The HSJ pursues the goal to contribute to children's, adolescent and young adults' personal development, to promote their social behavior, to encourage their social commitment and to arouse their willingness to com¬municate internationally. International youth exchanges shall contribute to this.
We would like to promote international youth exchanges with topics that focus on sports such as voluntary work in sport and its benefits or intercultural communication. In addition to workshop-modules and language anima¬tion, movement games and cultural events complement the one-week exchange. We would like to do this with teenagers and young adults aged 16-26 years.

Who is the HSJ looking for International Youth Exchanges?
We are looking for a sports-related partner organization within or outside Europe that works with youth and young adults aged 16-27 years. The adolescents and young adults should enjoy exercise and ideally, in the context of sports structures, e.g. engaged as leaders or organizers. The youth exchanges should take place yearly - in Hamburg and in the region of the partner organization.
