Gymnazium A. Vrabla LEVICE

Our school is situated in the area with several kinds of industries ,a new industrial park and the region is a part of Slovakia´s agricultural heartland. Despite these facts, the unemployment rate in the region si one of the highest in Slovakia ( 14%) , which means that we also have students who come from socially not ballanced background. Education in our school is mainly focused on language studies ( German, Russian, English) , environmental issues and preparation for the final leaving exam and university studies. We also provide extra- curricular activities including voluntareeing , charity events( long-lasting cooperation with Civic Association MIESTO V DOME - with children from socially disadvantaged area), competitions, projects (environment , Chemistry), etc. at the local, national and international levels.Education in our school is focused on various branches of study such as language studies ( German, Russian, English) but also natural sciences and humanities and preparation for the final leaving exam and university studies and the students assertion on the job market. Therefore we applied multicultural , environmental issues in the school curriculum. We teach students to face, comprehend and tollerate multicultural society as a part of EU and to take care of our environment. Our institution is considered to be on the significant way of its internationalization and modernization.
Since we participated in the project „A change of traditional school onto the modern one“ via EU funds, we equipped our school with the necessary IT.Our school has a long-life tradition in education and belongs to the schools of sufficient quality in its category in the country. Education in our school is mainly focused on language studies ( German, Russian, English) , and preparation for the final leaving exam in different subjects such as CHemistry,Biology,Phsysics, Civics, History, Economy, IT,and university studies and the students assertion on the job market. We also provide extra- curricular activities including voluntareeing( for Roma children tutoring) , charity events, competitions, projects (e-twinning in English language - postcards exchange, KA2 project with the aim onto environmental issues in 2014-2016 , KA1 - 2014-2015 CLIL education in Music), etc. at the local, national and international levels. The aim of our institution is to modernize and internationalize the instituion within the framework of the new KA1 Erasmus+ project. We would like to continue our way towards modernization ( by implementing new student-centred methodologies and approaches within the job shadowing activities and specific courses attendance of our staff, management and administration). By internationalization we would like to foster the whole-school approach towards Erasmus+ programme to motivate prevailing part of staff including management towards the KA1 and KA2 projects and raise the school´s profile, broaden the students´perspectives provide them with a chance to study abroad by fostering their communicative skills but also inter-personal skills and foster the school values such as democtratic principles, combat extremistic behaviour and opinions and to provide them a real chance to assert themselves in the EU job market of highly-qualified employees in intellectual branches of study.
