Global Djibouti Diaspora

Global Djibouti Diaspora promotes and supports Diaspora-centered initiatives in investment & entrepreneurship, philanthropy, volunteerism, and innovation in Djibouti. GDD is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization that engages Djibouti Diaspora communities, the private sector, civil society, and public institutions in collaborative efforts to support economic and social development.

The aim of the umbrella organization is to be the optimal resource center while empowering the voice of the Djiboutian Diaspora communities around the world.

The mission of GDD is to encourage and foster successful participation and integration of the Djiboutian Diaspora in the educational, social, political, civic, and economic activities in their home of origin, Djibouti. GDD is a welcoming and integrating organization, and will strive to provide advice, guidance and direction to the Djiboutian Diaspora wishing to resettle in Djibouti.

Our objectives:

1. Serve as a bridge between the Diaspora and the Djibouti government working closely with Diaspora desk.
2. Liaise with relevant private, governmental, and non-governmental organizations on behalf of its members.
3. Prepare, organize and disseminate relevant information via all available mediums on development, investment, volunteer opportunities and all means of engagement.
4. Provide information on relevant governmental policies & procedures, rules and regulations.
5. Organize trade fairs, as well as social and cultural events, to support the work of the association and promote a positive image of the country.
6. Provide consultancy services to members including preparation of project documents, and providing information on implementation-ready projects for potential investors.
7. Serve as a representative for those who wish to authorize the Association to handle business on their behalf.
8. Coordinate awareness courses for Diaspora residing in or travelling to other countries for Employment, on the culture, rules governing employment, their rights, and available resources and recourse of the country.
9. Create a Diaspora Resource Centre, fully equipped with educational and recreational facilities, where members can come to learn, relax, entertain, and network.
10. Assist members facing housing challenges as part of the relocation process. In line with the new national housing scheme, the Association will work alongside the relevant government bodies as an advocate for its members.
