Gaziantep Universtity

Gaziantep, located in the western southeast of Turkey, is the largest commercial and industrial center in the region with a rich history spanning almost three thousand years. The city has been shaped by various civilizations such as the Akkadians, Hittites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Urartians, Persians, Macedonians, Romans, Byzantines, Sassanids, Arabs, and Turks. This diverse historical influence has contributed to the socio-economic and cultural development of Gaziantep, making it a crucial center on the historic Silk Road.

Gaziantep is a significant hub for economic, social, and cultural activities, maintaining its importance from ancient times to the present. The city benefits from its strategic location on the historic Silk Road, playing a vital role in the economic, social, and cultural heritage of the region.

The University of Gaziantep, established in 1987, is a key educational institution in the city. With over 45,000 students, including nearly 5,000 international students from around 100 different countries, the university is a major contributor to Gaziantep's cultural and socio-economic development. The university comprises various departments, including the Target Technology Transfer Office, European Union Research Centre, Social Involvement Projects Centre, and 28 faculties in Gaziantep province.

Gaziantep University, with its Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ERAPLUS-ECHE), focuses on providing modern and advanced education to train enlightened, research-minded, and scientifically oriented graduates of good character. The university's main objectives include cultural, scientific, technical, medical, and vocational education and training, fundamental and applied research, and contributions to the development of Turkey.

The Gaziantep University European Research Centre (GABAM) was established with the aim of fostering research projects related to Turkey's economic relations with the European Union. The center collaborates with official and private organizations, both domestically and internationally, and conducts activities to train staff in line with its objectives.

Gaziantep Technology Development Zone Founder and Operator Inc., also known as Gaziantep Techno Park, started operating in October 2008 under the Technology Development Areas legislation No. 4691. Located on the campus area of Gaziantep University, Gaziantep Techno Park focuses on promoting technology development, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the region.

Faculty of Engineering Industrial

Gaziantep University Faculty of Engineering Industrial Engineering Department continues its educational activities, which started in 1995 with 30 students, with 6 full-time faculty members, 3 research assistants, and approximately 1000 students today. As one of the few departments in Turkey that offers education entirely in English, the courses are delivered by expert instructors with support from other departments.

Industrial Engineering is a branch of engineering that designs, improves, produces, and plans complex systems within the constraints of labor, time, and cost. The department provides theoretical knowledge, methods, and real-life applications in fundamental areas such as Operations Research, Statistics and Data Analysis, Ergonomics, Production Management and Inventory Planning, Logistics and Supply Chain, Simulation and Network Theory, Quality and Project Management, Product Development Processes, and Technology Management.

The department also offers a non-thesis master's program in Engineering Technology Management, as well as thesis-based master's and doctoral programs. These programs provide opportunities for graduates from various engineering disciplines to pursue postgraduate studies, fostering a multidisciplinary research environment.

The administrative and academic staff of the department are always open to communication with students. With experienced and expert faculty members, students not only acquire a solid foundation in Industrial Engineering but also shape their futures. Acting as a bridge between the business world and academia, the department, along with Gaziantep Techno Park, provides a robust academic infrastructure and industrial connections for institutions seeking partnerships in EU projects.
