Gaabow Welfare and development Association (GAWEDA) is voluntary, humanitarian, nongovernmental, nonprofit making, nonpolitical, non partisan NGO founded on February 16, 2011, registered in the Ministry of Interior
GAWEDA works with marginalized society groups to the responsibilities and strategies towards the human rights, education, health, peace building, gender and gender development, educational skill trainings and the observance of economic, social and cultural rights and socio-economic welfare of the community dimensions as whole and vulnerable and marginalized people in particular.
GAWEDA actively participate the democratic changes in the country towards promoting interdependence, mutual respect, cooperation, transparency, and accountability.
GAWEDA strongly believes that youth is the only force and strength to enhance and fully develop their country through common forums and participatory process at all levels.
GAWEDA organization encourages youth/adults, people with disability especially women and vulnerable people to join the mainstreams of live, promote their education level and skills to reach sustainable life.

GAWEDA organization established a Community Hospital in the year 2012 which was named Wanlaweyn Community Hospital (WCH), the Hospital currently has 26 workers. The Hospital is serves the Wanlaweyn Community and its surrounding Villages, the Hospital is 30 Meters sq. building and has a capacity of 40 beds but currently has 30 beds available, the Hospitals also has Medical equipments such as Computer Ultra Sound, X-ray Machine, emergency laboratory equipments, Oxygen Machine, pulse oxy meter and many more.

GAWEDA organization also runs the vocational training center to strength the capacities, skills of the vulnerable and marginalized people to enable them attain sustainable development.

The organization runs its activities the contribution of founders and members, community both local and Diaspora and donors funded projects


Mission Statement

Development and Capacity Building among community people both urban and rural on Human rights and good governance, water and sanitation, health, nutrition, education, environment and poverty elimination by providing need-based support and technical assistance.

i. Respect: GAWEDA affirms treat all people with equal respect and as potential contributors and donors as well.

ii. Dedication: - GAWEDA dedicated obligation and effective commitment to serve promoting the inclusion of knowledge, skills and socio-economical of every individual, poor, disenfranchised and vulnerable/marginalized people in the society, no boundaries to serve man and women.

iii. Accountability: - Transparency and accountability within the organization spheres and among the three domain of the society (the state, private sector and civil society) and International community as well.

Organizational hierarchy

The General Assembly (GA) is the supreme authority of GAWEDA organization, it comprises of all members who have subscribed and fulfilled the membership requirements. The organization is run entirely by local people. There is also Board on which members serve as executive. The Board is composed of the chairperson, The Vice chairperson, secretary and two members. The organization also has management team. The staff currently working in the organization and GAWEDA hospital and feeding centre consists of 30 persons (14 female and 16 male)
GAWEDA Reference Organizations (INGO) for whom we worked with in various Fields:
and participated national Hygiene and Sanitation campaigns. These programs benefited youth groups both female and male, minority groups and poor and marginalized.
GAWEDA is one of the most vocal National NGO in Somali in regards to education, skill training, advocacy the rights of People with Disability, IDPs and has vast experience in implementing projects/interventions geared towards these groups.
