1. WHAT IS FUNDACIÓN BALIA for children?
Fundación Balia is a non-profit organization without any political or religious ties, devoted to the comprehensive growth of children and youngsters who find themselves in a risk situation.
Its mission is to favour social inclusion for children in disadvantage, and it is placed in disfavoured communities of the country where there is a high level of immigration. Balia also develops activities in depressed communities from other countries cooperating with local counterparts.
Fundación Balia promotes and puts into practice pedagogical projects which prevent abandonment and isolation, fight school failure and strengthen education of values, offering guidelines of conduct that can be learned and which allow children to grow up as integrated adults.
Furthermore, Fundación Balia is aware of the social reality of disfavoured groups and promotes awareness and involvement of society to improve this reality.

2. AREAS PROMOTED BY FUNDACIÓN BALIA for the children
At present Fundación Balia has four Centers, two in the district of Tetuán and two in La Latina, and promotes programs addressed mainly to children and youngsters. We have in three lines of action:
BALIA INFANCIA (CHILDREN): Programs destined for children aged 3 to 12 years old who find themselves in a situation of social exclusion, in districts with high levels of rejection and immigration.
The Programs are: "Centro Balia Latina", "Centro Balia Tetuán", "Colonias Urbanas" (Summer Camps) and a Socio-Educational Intervention Programs at Schools "Aulas Balia" (Balia Classrooms), and "Summer Camps".
During the year 2012 more than 859 children have taken part in these programs.

BALIA JÓVENES (YOUNG PEOPLE): programs addressed to young people aged 12 to 16 years old intended to promote participation, improve living-together and prevent social exclusion through leisure alternatives, school support and sports.
The Programs are: "Territorio Joven Tetuán" (Young Territory Tetuán), "Territorio Joven Latina" (Young Territory Latina), "Jovenes y Deporte" (Young and Sports), "Intervención Socio-Educativa en Institutos" (Socio-Educational Intervention in Secondary Schools), and "Talleres de Verano" (Summer Workshops)
Throughout 2012 more than 735 young people from the districts of Tetuán and Latina have benefit from these activities.

BALIA NEW TECHNOLOGIES: We help groups of people in risk of exclusion in the Districts of Tetuán and Latina: children, youngsters, women, unemployed…the main objective in this area is to narrow the digital gap and encourage inclusion of disfavored groups through communication tools.
We offer: introductory computer courses, specialized courses, free access to internet, community use (other associations), "job search" workshops, a space for self-training and "Conecta Joven".
During 2012 Tetuán and Latina Classrooms have showed very high performance with 1.796 users.

BALIA TRANSVERSALES: (BALIA TRANSVERSES): intended to strengthen and promote social inclusion for all groups. They are Programs specifically meant to deepen and better and extend our results in all areas of activity.
"Sports, Nature and Culture Program", "Family Guidelines Program" and "Volunteers Program".
