FUNDACIÓN NATURALEZA Y HOMBRE

Fundación Naturaleza y Hombre, created in 1994, is an NGO dedicated to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage. It was established in Cantabria, and has extended its area of action to other Spanish regions, creating other delegations in Castilla y León and Asturias.
The objectives of the organization are the following:
1. The conservation of natural heritage and traditional activities, always seeking the integration between human beings and environment.
2. The promotion of protected natural spaces, by land stewardship, acquiring own lands and developing agreements with local and regional authorities.
3. Working on restoration of ecosystems and the recovery of threatened species of wild flora and fauna, seeking a sustainable rural development.
4. Carrying out scientific research to measure the quality of the environment and identify the main problems and solutions.
5. The promotion of environmental education among public, both urban and rural.
6. Citizen involvement in environment improvement, through the development of a collaborative group network: “Amigos de las Reservas”
7. International cooperation as an essential element of solidarity among peoples.
Within these objectives, the Foundation wants to give special importance to the participation of the population through environmental education and our volunteer program. We try to bring people to the most frequent environmental problems in our territory and promote respectful attitudes with it, in addition, through the volunteer days; we offer tools for people to fight against the threats of our environment through direct actions such as the repopulation of native trees and animals surveys.
FNYH participates in several nature conservation projects in Europe such as LIFE +, INTERREG, as well as state and regional. Among these projects FNYH develops different actions focus on wetland recovery, forest conservation, natural reserve network, recovery of flora nad fauna species and production of documentaries.
The activities that the foundation has been developing during more than 25 years of history have focused on the recovery of ecosystems such as wetlands, Atlantic and Mediterranean forests, recovery of certain species of flora and fauna as well as the improvement of the habitats that host these species .
