Our actions focus on the support of prisoners’ familial environment with emphasis on the minor children of the family, on rehabilitation programs for juvenile offenders, on support programs for incarcerated parents and on research.
Considering the disruption that imprisonment of a person induces to the family, we hope through psychosocial support programs to provide the family with a different perspective; a “new life” that differs from the shame, the isolation, the stigmatization and the resignation of a family re-connection.
Specifically, our activities concern:
• Psychosocial support of the prisoners’ familial environment
• Support of the prisoners’ children
• Psychosocial support of juvenile offenders
• Support programs for incarcerated mothers
• Psychosocial support of ex-prisoners
• Training for the correctional employees on issues concerning our target groups
• Conduction of research and elaboration of studies about relevant issues
• Interventions with policy suggestions to public/state institutions
• Free of charge psychosocial services to our target groups: relatives/companions/families/spouses/children/parents
Freedom Gate Greece is particularly sensitized on issues concerning prisoners’ children, juveniles, youth at risk and incarcerated mothers and therefore we give emphasis and focus our activities on their support, promoting their welfare and on defending their rights and our scope is to contribute through the reduction of the effects of incarceration as well as to fight recidivism of juveniles and to take precautionary measures concerning youth at risk (of offending) and above all to (be able to) offer alternative (to prison) programs to delinquent youth and juvenile offenders.
