Fondazione Grameen Italia is a non-profit organization born from the collaboration between the University of Bologna, Unicredit Foundation and Grameen Trust. Inspired by the Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Grameen Italia aims to promote microcredit and Social Business based on the model of Grameen Bank. Since 2017 Grameen Italia has been accredited by the National Microcredit Agency to offer accompanying services according to the standards required by Italian law.
Grameen's mission is to promote the socio-economic inclusion not only of non-bankable individuals but also of anyone living in vulnerable conditions. For this reason, the foundation intervenes in the territory providing financial education and credit support services. Through participatory social planning, Grameen italia creates networks and partnerships with a wide range of civil society organizations and businesses in the area. The goal is to realize employment support and educational interventions, especially for young people.
Thanks to the specific skills of its staff, Fondazione Grameen Italia is able to provide detailed studies in the field of project impact assessment and non-financial social reporting in a wide range of project areas.
Grameen Italia is currently the only accredited organization in the field of microcredit in the territory of Bologna. Grameen italia supports its users in financial training, in the development of the economic project idea, in the drafting of the business plan up to the microcredit delivery.
