EUR Foundation was founded in 1990 by university professors, businessmen and professionals as an institution focused on education and culture; it aims at offering young university students the best conditions to actively create their future.
As art. 2 of the charter states, the main purpose of the Foundation is that of contributing to the cultural growth of the young university students by creating and managing University Residences of Merit, as well as fostering the research among students and teachers thus developing a scientific cooperation between them.
The CEUR Foundation carries out a public service and creates a network of university residences called Camplus where the educational aspect, in support of the academic activity of the most important Italian universities, integrates with accommodation, thus proposing the students a complete university life: a place to stay, a place to study, to develop their cultural interests, a link to the world of work.
In addition, it stipulates agreements with associations which aim at giving deserving students, though not wealthy, the possibility to access the Residences of Merit of the Foundation.
Other essential activities of the Foundation are the higher education and the development of research, especially among young students, also by granting scholarships. All this is witnessed by the several cultural and academic relations, the post-graduate educational activities, the scientific contributions, and the publications.
The Foundation is part of the Conference of the University Residences of Merit (CCUM), which coordinates it and patronizes common activities with it; it also shares the same juridical status of University Residence of Merit, as per law 240/2010, and a long history too.
Recognised by a ministerial decree as a juridical personality in 1991, CEUR Foundation works in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, and with several Italian universities as well to create and manage University Colleges of Merit, monitored by the Ministry.
Art. 5 of the university reform decree (law 240/2010) defines the residence of merit as “high-level cultural qualification” institutions, and states that their focal role is that of fostering the merit, within the policies for the quality of universities, through the definition of a specific discipline, which is the arrival point of a path aimed at defining the institutional and legal-administrative role of the colleges.
CEUR Foundation, according to the Organisation, Management and Control Model as per Legislative Decree 8th June 2001 n° 231, received the Ethical Code.
Mission
We want to offer students, both graduated and attending an Italian or foreign university, occasions to meet, paths and tools of high educational and cultural quality aimed at praising merit, talent, and critic capabilities of the person.
To carry out its mission, the educational offer of the Foundation puts in the first place the person, students’ wishes and expectations, which are the true protagonists of the world of university and work as well.
This can only be possible by assuring every student: educational services; the possibility to better analyse cultural issues; career counselling. All this according to an individual project and a constant sharing of ideas and results.
The activities of the Foundation contribute to reintroduce in universities and offer young students a“cultural” education based on analysis and the ability to think critically, to establish connections in a systematic way. In our educational paths – Studio Camplus Workshops, university course with credits, PhD and post-PhD courses, seminars to present the labour market – the starting point is represented by the unavoidable connection of the topic to the social life or the scientific community; the method is interdisciplinary; a great interactivity is developed; the knowledge is helped also by artistic moments.
The activity of the Foundation aims at the insertion in the labour market of the young people and their involvement as active parts in the educational design through the Alumni project.
The final goal is that of building responsible adults, able to interpret and foster a society based on the unavoidable principle of the social experience of mankind, therefore oriented towards the common good.
