Fashion Revolution began in response to the 2013 Rana Plaza disaster in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where the collapse of a garment factory claimed 1,134 lives, mostly women. Since then, it has grown into the world’s largest fashion activism movement, active in over 90 countries, mobilizing citizens, brands, and policymakers through research, education, and advocacy. Key campaigns include "Who Made My Clothes?" for greater transparency in garment production and "Good Clothes Fair Pay," advocating for fair wages and better working conditions. In the Czech Republic, our team has been active since 2014, formally establishing Fashion Revolution Česká republika z.s. (Fashion Revolution Czech Republic) in 2017.
Our objectives are:
/ Eliminate human and environmental exploitation in the fashion industry
/ Ensure safe, dignified working conditions and living wages for all workers in the supply chain
/ Achieve a fairer distribution of power across the fashion industry
/ Strengthen the labour movement within the global fashion sector
/ Promote the conservation of resources and the regeneration of ecosystems
/ Foster a culture of transparency and accountability throughout the value chain
/ End the throwaway culture, promoting long-term use of materials and minimizing waste
/ Recognize and value heritage, craftsmanship, and local wisdom in the Czech Republic and globally
