Euro-Mediterranean Youth Association (EUROMEDIST) is a non governmental and non-profit youth organization founded in 2006 as a student forum in Istanbul by university students who have considerable experience on international youth projects. EUROMEDIST meets more than 120 members within local and international youth activities. EUROMEDIST has been working as an officially registered NGO since August, 2007.
It mainly aims at
• Fostering Euro-Mediterranean Co-operation by specialized projects and policy formulations.
• Increasing the civil society’s role in youth policy developing and implementation in the European and Mediterranean countries.
• Contributing to personal development of youngsters
• Raising aspects of respect, empathy and tolerance between youngsters.
• Promoting intercultural dialogue as a tool for to solve common issues and conflicts.
• Focusing on issues related to human rights and acceptance to personal limitations
• Emphasizing on the point of social cohesion and its role in developing multicultural communities
Its main area of activity includes
• Organizing and coordinating European and Euro-Mediterranean Youth Projects where youngsters from 15 to 30 years old take part. These projects’ subjects vary from Cultural Heritage Protection to Women Empowerment. These are all realized through our project groups in the organization.
• Making regular meetings & participating in cultural activities where members spend time together, enjoy and learn as well as gathering for discussion on youth policy development as a research centre.
• Making partnerships with international NGO’s and creating long lasting links for further cooperation.
