Etimesgut District National Education Directorate is a public education authority in Etimesgut which is one of the central districts of Ankara, capital city of Turkey. Etimesgut district is on Ankara-Istanbul highway which is located 17 Km west of the Ankara. The population of Etimesgut is 554.351 in 2019. This means that the population of Etimesgut is denser than 60 cities of Turkey. Our district allows migration from almost every region of the country. The majority of the people living in the district center of middle-income workers, represents civil servants and small shopkeepers.
As of our Directorate, it is a governmental organization in charge with the planning and coordination of all kinds of educational and training activities from pre-school, to secondary and adult education in our area. The Directorate was established in 1990 and currently serves in governorship building. It coordinates 18 pre-primary schools, 33 primary schools, 34 secondary schools, 15 high schools, 9 vocational schools, 2 adult education centers, 102.500 students, 5545 teachers and a counselling and rehabilitation centre for our pupils who needs special education. The Directorate is responsible for organizing all the required actions in the field of education to realize a real increase in the management and organizational capacity of our area. In this context the Directorate supports school principals, teachers and other staff with variety of in-service training courses. Besides it cooperates in many National and International projects.

The European idea and intercultural learning are important elements of our education and training life. Therefore our Directorate gives special importance for planning and undertaking project activities. In this context, a Research&Development Department, EU Project Coordination Unit is established within the directorate and started its activities in September 2009.The aim of this unit is to organize seminars and training programs about project cycle management for all stakeholders from governmental, non-governmental, public and private institutions in Etimesgut. The unit plays an important role in consultation and providing information about former LLP and new Erasmus+. The staff in this unit visits each school and give information about the EU Projects that they can apply individually and also for their schools. The staff also helps the teachers while they are filling in their application forms.
