English Teacher

Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education (Karaman MEM) is a state institution in charge with the planning and coordination of all kinds of educational and training activities in pre-school, primary, secondary and adult education in Karaman. Our institution is giving service to 1 Practical Kindergarten, 13 Kindergarten, 125 Kindergarten classes, 98 Primary Schools, 61 Secondary Schools, 17 Anatolian High Schools, 1 Social Sciences High School, 2 Science High Schools, 22 Vocational High Schools, 9 Multi-Program High Schools, 38 Private Educational Institutions, 1 Vocational Education and Training Center, 6 Public Education Centers, 1 Practical Education School, 16 Private Education Institutions and 3 Teacher's Lodge. There are 91 teachers and 2020 students Kindergarten Institutions, 969 teachers and 17864 students at Primary schools, 852 teachers and 13450 students at Secondary Schools. Besides this there are 860 teachers and 14332 students at different types of high schools. In addition to these normal schools there are more than 7 schools for only students who need special education. 12 supervisors are working under the presidency of Education Supervisors for auditing and guidence to raise the quality of education within the institution. Furthermore our institution is responsible for supporting the families who have handicapped children financially. Our institution is giving in service training services to teachers to develop themselves in their fields on different topics.
Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education also organizes inservice trainings for teachers and school management teams. Seminars and courses are held for people in disadvantaged area in order to help them to develop themselves and to find jobs. There is a team consist of three English Language teachers at a department called European Union and Foreign Affairs, which was founded in accordance with circular numbered 2009/15. This team is responsible for implementing the projects of the institution and guiding the whole teachers in Karaman about the new EU program Erasmus+. Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education successfully completed 3 Lonardo Da Vinci projects in Life Learning Programme and supported a lot of projects in Life Learning Programme as social partner. In 2014 and a Strategic Partnership Between Local/Regional Authorities (KA2) and 1 School Staff Mobility Project (Vocational Education-KA1), in 2015 a School Staff Mobility (School Education KA1), an Adult Education (KA1) and a Strategic Partnership in the Field of Vocational Education (KA2) were accepted within the scope of Erasmus+ programme and these projects are still being implemented by our institution successfuly. Besides the institution completed projects local grant projects (MEVKA) successfully. Karaman Provincial Directorate for National Education is the head of School Education Commission so we are implementing many in-service trainings for improving teachers' competencies during education semesters. In these courses, we aim to increase their; a-) Competency Personality b-)the ability to interact and communicate with a colleague to improve the professional ability c-)the ability to recognize and understand the functions of each institution and the social life d-)the ability to work together both individually and in groups e-)Professional Competence f-)understanding in the field of educational psychology g-)ability to design and utilize the various media and sources of learning h-) ability in preparing the program. In the meetings organized by the institution between all the education organizations in Karaman, it is decided to apply and implement projects for the needs of the schools. As a result of these meetings it is acquired that there is a need for a project about "Improving Teachers' Competences". In this context the project will create awareness about this topic all over Karaman.
There is a team consisting of three English Language teachers at a department called European Union and Foreign Affairs, which was founded in accordance with circular numbered 2009/15. This team is responsible for implementing the projects of the institution and guiding the whole teachers in Karaman about the EU program "Erasmus+" and help them in every steps of a project application. As a result of these Karaman Provincial Directorate of National Education is an very experienced institution about implementing EU projects and local projects.
Key Persons in the Project:

Ramazan ARSLAN, was graduated from Atatürk University, English Language and Literature Department in 2000. He is an English Teacher who is working in EU Projects Department in Karaman Provincial National Education Directorate. He has been working for EU Projects for 7 years and has been participated in several different Comenius , Grundtvig and LDV Project meetings in different European Countries -gained a good understanding of what is required of an project expert and researcher both in Turkey and in Europe.He is an expert of evaluation and monitoring of projects and activities. He has worked and participated many cultural, environmental Comenius Project as a contact person such as; what is name? And European Students: Agents of Sustainable Environment. He is the contact person of “New Ways in English Language Teaching through Sharing Experiences” and " Preventing Students Failure" Comenius Regio Projects. And also he has participated some projects meetings such as; The Triangle of Social Services for People With Disabilities” Grundtvig Project as a group leader in the name of Directorate. He has some researches about Employment possibilities for Disabled People. He will coordinate all project activities with partners.
*Fatih Şimşek, is capable of coordinating projects and gathering contacts from local and international area. He is English teacher. He is active in project meetings and organizations. He is good at rhetoric and gives courses on this. During the volunteering projects, he has been coordinating the course providers to reach disadvantaged students and girls in Karaman city.

Hasan Aykut is a forward-thinking ICT teacher at Social Sciences High School. Believing in the transformative power of technology in education, he has taken a significant step to enrich students' learning experiences. He established a virtual reality (VR) classroom within the school, providing students with access to this innovative technology. This teacher not only set up the technological infrastructure but also provides students with the opportunity to actively use VR technology through extracurricular activities. Guided by him, students become explorers through VR headsets. They experience different worlds through cultural interaction activities, internalize knowledge with virtual trips in geography lessons, and relive the past with virtual visits to historical sites. Abstract concepts in mathematics lessons become concrete with threedimensional VR visuals, while VR also offers a safe and supportive environment for students who need social skills development. His dedicated work not only increases students' interest in the lessons but also makes significant contributions to their development as individuals equipped with 21st-century skills.
