ENEREA Észak-Alföld Regional Energy Agency

ENEREA Észak-Alföld Regional Energy Agency was established in March 2009 as the first energy agency of Hungary. It operates at regional level in the Northern Great Plain Region, cooperates with different organization at national and international level as well in order to support and foster the sustainable development of the region.
The Mission of the Agency is to increase the usage of renewable energy resources, to facilitate energy efficiency and energy diversification in order to contribute to national and European energy goals and to sustainable development.
Activities at national level:
In order to achieve these goals ENEREA works with different actors from public and private sector and offers them wide range of services.
ENEREA cooperates with SMEs in realization of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, and in preparation strategies of enterprises. The Agency assists local and regional authorities by consultation activity, preparation of studies and action plans. ENEREA also be in cooperation with institutes responsible for regional development, universities, and experts of the energy sector.
The Agency also contributes to increase energy awareness of citizens by organization of local events, workshops, trainings, exhibitions and energy competitions for children.
It publishes periodical newsletter for Hungarian partners and it also edits international newsletter “EnergyGlobe”. ENEREA operates an own website which is available both in Hungarian and in English (http://enerea.eu/english.php).
Some of the results of the activities at national level:
 preparation of 14 Sustainable Energy Action Plan
 preparation of North Great Plain Regional Energy Strategy 2010
 preparation of energy strategy and the action plan of the Hajdúszoboszló micro region
 organization of Energy café events – information event for actors of the public sector
 organization of Energy Days for Local Authorities (2011-2014)
 preparation of energy training programme for skilled employees of green SMEs
 preparation of workbook of “Sun Robby adventures in energy” for 11-year-old children
 realization of the system of “WEB-overheads” - Internet-based system for registering and monitoring energy consumption
Activities at European level:
ENEREA has been built extended partner network system covered different European countries. International projects can help to achieve goals to increase competitiveness and to foster sustainable development of the region by transferring good practices and application of the latest RES and EE technologies. ENEREA is committed towards further improvement its partner network by international and interregional projects.
Some of the results of the activities at international level:
URBAN Water Footprint project – 2012-2014 (Central Europe programme). URBAN_WFTP project focuses on local water management in urban areas in order to improve currently used technologies and to integrate innovative tools for monitoring and managing citizens’ water use, water networks and wastewater treatment systems. IERWATER project – 2012-2015 (Hungary-Romania Cross-Border Co-operation Programme). Objective of the project is the development of the long term water supply strategy of Érmellék region in the area of the cross-border water body with focus on the sustainable use of the water reserves available. A joint cross-border monitoring system will be developed, which helps to protect the water resources. Detailed cross-border hydrodynamic model will be built on 3 RO and 2 HU strategic water resources.
Ecoregions project – 2012-2014 (INTERREG IVC programme). ECOREGIONS has aimed to improve the governance of eco-innovation and green technologies in the private sector. Actions will be based on the transferring of good practices. Good practices have been analyzed and selected for transfer process in the following themes: bio-energy technologies & performance; communities & energy efficiency governance; sustainable construction solutions & their institutionalization; greening of production: policies, targets, skills, services. M2RES project – 2012-2014 (South East Europe programme).M2RES has wanted to contribute to the sustainable development of the European Union, generating economic and social value for marginal areas having lost their primary functions. The turning key will be to change them into platforms for the production of renewable energy.
GEO.POWER project – 2011-2013 (INTERREG IVC programme). The general objective of GEO.POWER project is exchange best practices related to low enthalpy energy supply and to prepare the ground to the transfer some of the selected best practices. The main results of the project are the development of one action plan per each involved region that provides an organized set of legal/regulatory, economical and technical and best-technological proposals that address long-term investments strategy for GCHP application at wide scale.
