Ellesmere Youth Project (EYP) is a community-based youth work project in Burngreave, Sheffield. The Project started from St Peter's church in 1997, in response to the need of local young people for more provision in the area, and in March 2001 became an independent registered charity.
The aim of the Project is to improve life opportunities for young people, aged 10-18, in particular to support their personal development and increase their aspirations. EYP aims to inspire young people to value themselves and others, improve their confidence and self-esteem, learn new skills and encourage them to reach their full potential.
Our current main activities are health and well-being programmes, neighbourhood youth work, outdoor activities, various holiday activities (art and craft, games, sports, workshops etc) and detached youth work.
The ethos of EYP is to reach out to local young people by providing activities and groups in which to foster relationships, build a sense of community and encourage the values of acceptance, respect, co-operation, equality and compassion. Our focus is on building long-term, quality relationships with young people, informal education and encouraging young people's participation in the planning and evaluation of our work
