Diaspora Solidarity Group

Diaspora Solidarity Group (DSG) is a community-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting migrants, refugees, and other displaced or vulnerable people in their processes of adaptation, integration, and social participation. Founded in response to the humanitarian consequences of the war in Ukraine, the organization was created to transform immediate solidarity into sustainable, long-term support for people affected by forced migration.Migration is at the core of DSG’s mission. The organization works to address the structural and social challenges faced by migrants and refugees, including limited access to education and employment, language barriers, discrimination, digital exclusion, and reduced participation in civic life. Particular attention is given to migrant and refugee women and young people, who often experience multiple and intersecting forms of marginalization.DSG operates through a strong intersectional feminist approach, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across all its activities. The organization actively combats online hate speech and xenophobia, while fostering intercultural dialogue between migrant communities and host societies in order to build trust, mutual understanding, and social cohesion.In line with Erasmus+ priorities, DSG places a strong emphasis on social inclusion, digital transformation, and youth participation. The organization develops and facilitates non-formal education activities that combine physical and digital methods (figital approaches), including online learning spaces, hybrid workshops, digital storytelling, and media literacy trainings. These activities aim to strengthen young migrants’ digital skills, critical thinking, and confidence, while ensuring access to safe and inclusive digital environments.DSG’s work in youth and community contexts includes capacity-building workshops, leadership programs, peer learning initiatives, intercultural exchanges, and training courses focused on migration, gender equality, diversity, and active citizenship. Through participatory facilitation methods, young people are encouraged to share their experiences, co-create solutions, and become active contributors to their communities.Within the framework of European cooperation and Erasmus+ youth work, DSG seeks partnerships for youth exchanges, training courses, and cooperation projects that address migration, inclusion, digital empowerment, and democratic participation. The organization aims to contribute practical field experience, facilitation expertise, and a strong connection to migrant communities to international project consortia.DSG’s mission aligns especially with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:SDG 5 – Gender Equality, by empowering migrant and refugee women and promoting feminist, inclusive leadership.SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, by supporting the social, digital, and civic inclusion of migrants and refugees.SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, by combating hate speech, promoting dialogue, and strengthening community cohesion and participation.By combining grassroots engagement with European values and global development goals, Diaspora Solidarity Group contributes to the development of resilient, inclusive, and digitally empowered communities, where young migrants and refugees are not only supported, but recognized as leaders, innovators, and agents of positive social change.
