Cultural Center of Novi Sad

The Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, (Kulturni centar Novog Sada) is an institution of culture founded by City Council of Novi Sad in 1954. Novi Sad is capital of north Serbian province of Vojvodina. This town is well known for its multicultural structure and its importance for Serbian culture. More than a twenty different nationalities live in this city, and that's why Novi Sad is a positive example of good intercultural cooperation and mutual respect and understanding. Because of its beauty, architectural richness and well – known hospitality, Novi Sad is also known as "Serbian Athens". However, as we all live in developing country, we are faced with a lack of defined cultural strategy and youth cultural activism. That's why Cultural Centre of Novi Sad developed a new strategy and vision which mainly assume: including youth in cultural activities; increasing the level of the intercultural cooperation; increasing the awareness of the significance of cultural activism and promotion of European cultural patterns and ideas. Spreading activities of Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, mainly concerned about the quality of the taken actions, are looking for new models of culture presentation. By different programs activities such as: literary and society platforms, scene, music and film programs, publishing activities, festivals, multimedia and interdisciplinary projects, Cultural Centre is well known for its openness and eligibility for new culture tendencies. Since its beginnings and especially in the past few years, Cultural Centre of Novi Sad maintains dynamic contacts with international subjects from the field of culture, such as institutions and artists, realizing a great number of interesting programs, actions and projects. Cultural Centre of Novi Sad has grown on the basis of well-known Youth Platform almost fifty years ago. Nowadays, Cultural Centre has its own strong developed network of volunteers. Fully aware of the significance of youth cultural activism and engagment of unemployed youth, management of Cultural Centre hired 8 young, unemployed, educated people to give their contribution and be actively involved in projects implemented by Cultural Centre. One of their assignments is to build up and possibly implement the project "Youth cultural activism and intercultural dialogue" and to research about Youth in Action program with fully awareness of significance of this program for their proper development.
