Coordination and Information Centre for People with Disabilities and Elderly

Coordination and Information Centre for People with Disabilities and Elderly (KIS) is a Czech association based in Prague which aims at several main points:

• provide information about social inclusion and possibilities (especially work opportunities) for disabled people
• organize workshops and seminars relating to issues of people with disabilities and their carers
• prepare the documents and initiatives for dealing between state and non-state institutions leading to improving the lifestyle of people with disabilities
• advisory for disabled people and their carers (especially family carers)
• raising awareness activities, information activities and publishing

We are a small organization but our scope reaches the whole Czech Republic. We are active on the national level in the area of policy focused on carers (as a member of Committee for Balancing Work, Private and Family Life and also a member of The Employment Pact of the Central-Bohemia region; as a consultant in solving problems of informal caretakers, for example as a member of The Czech National Disability Council).

The main target group of KIS are young people with disabilities who need to find a sustainable and decent way of living (inclusive of job opportunities). The significant issue we are pointing out is the situation with disabled youngsters who grew up and look for the new way of life. The emerging problem relates to their involvement to real life and integration to society without the daily support of families and caregivers.

Running projects:

“Not poor girls, we are heroines”.
The rationale of the project comes from the overall focus of the association and the project targets the caregivers who are mainly women. Being a caregiver person is very exhausting and time-consuming as it can be a full-time job for which they don’t have enough time to enter the labour market. The project gives them a chance to launch their own business in co-working centres and provide the training courses, seminars, workshops and advices.

“The training of paramedical staff in Pilsen Region”
It aims at broadening the offer of training courses in the Pilsen region and at deepening the skills of paramedical staff. Seven e-learning modules will be developed within the project and these modules will be piloted on the target group (nurses, laboratory technicians, ergotherapists, psychotherapists etc.)

We are looking for Erasmus+ project in the area of youth and adult education. Apart from inclusion activities and equal opportunities we are also active in the field of sports for disabled.
