Cooperativa Sociale Progetto H

The “Progetto H” Cooperative was founded in 1983 in Macomer (Sardinia) with the purpose of promoting projects and actions in the field of Active Labour Policies in order to support the social and labor integration of the vulnerable groups and to enhance social planning capacity and young self-entrepreneurship within the local community.
In its thirty years of activity the Cooperative has been able to diversify its business thanks to its ability to grasp the social needs of the territory, to understand the local community and by applying the results of the research in development and inclusion of vulnerable groups. The Cooperative’s enlightened sense of business has always considered the socio-economic context in which it operates in order to find socio-entrepreneurial answers coherent with its "mission" and historic pursuits.
In detail, the Cooperative Project H has the following production activities:
- Food service and catering for the preparation and delivery of meals to schools, day care centers, to the elderly, the disabled and patients in hospitals and gated communities.
- Workshops on behalf of third parties for the processing of products including packaging, sorting, grading and storage of all kinds on behalf of a regional non-profit network of companies.
- Leather workshop for the production of leather goods (e.g. belts, wallets, luggage etc).
- Social tourism aimed at people with disabilities, the elderly and children to ensure they have a way to have their needs satisfied while relating to other and being included in activities and not being excluded due to their conditions. The types of holiday (sea or mountains) proposed by the Cooperative are also aimed at a more diverse audience such as religious groups, sports clubs and conventioneers.
- Organization of events about social issues (e.g. Festival of legality, Europe for citizens)
- Residential service aimed at adults with disabilities so that they can re-evaluate their own individual abilities through qualified professional programs. By their integration in the community the Cooperative offers them professional, personalized programs carried out as part of the job opportunities offered by the Cooperative itself in terms of professionalism, rules, relationships, acquisition of autonomy, self-respect and awareness..
- Social farming is a new farming practice that uses agricultural resources to provide social or educational care services for vulnerable groups of people. The experimental practice began in 2013.

Vision for the Future
The Cooperative’s development plan is oriented towards the study of new business and the consolidation of existing ones. Among these new businesses are: telemedicine (eg. A telephone helpline service) and home automation as an implementation of the residential services already offered by the management of day centers for people with disabilities (moderate to severe physical and mental disability). They are organized in collaboration with the municipalities of Marghine (a historical region of the central-west Sardinia) and ASL of Macomer.
Progetto H has a particular interest in supporting minority groups in the creation and support of their new businesses during the start up phase.
Among the existing businesses are environmental activities, in particular waste disposal and recycling (for the provinces of Nuoro, Oristano and Sassari) and social agricultural businesses that can provide job opportunities for the disadvantaged.
The “Progetto H” Cooperative is a training agency which appears on the regional list of accredited organizations for higher educational training.
The Cooperative is an accredited organization which works with businesses to provide, assess and mentor the apprentices, including school leavers as well as under and post graduates from the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari.
