Kairos’ mission is to actively promote and pursue the interests and needs of the local community, in creating, implementing and providing services and projects whose aim is to support the social inclusion of the people and the integration of unemployed people into the workforce, especially the weakest social groups. Kairos focuses on values such as social inclusion, attention to people, subsidiarity, solidarity, democracy. People are at the heart of everything that Kairos does. As an organization, Kairos is committed to promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, safety and safeguarding for all its staff, partner organizations and customers.
Consortium kairos was funded in Turin in 2001. In 2011, it turned over 20 mil €. It currently employs over 650 workers through its cooperative network. The staff in the Employment and Training Department alone accounts for more than 40 employees.
Kairos’ 4 areas of expertise include:
PEOPLE AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES
The services provided by the cooperatives’ integrated system target children, young people, mature and older people, families, special needs, etc. In all its activities, Kairòs is always keen on integrating and developing the local communities.
DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL ENTREPRISES
Kairòs is devoted to entrepreneurship: it feeds and provides fuel for the entrepreneurial engine. It is a creative lab for innovative projects and ideas. Kairòs supports the development of the local communities through the promotion of the social dialogue among the local stakeholders: cooperativies, companies, institutions and associations.
INTEGRATION OF DISADVANTAGED PEOPLE IN THE LABOUR MARKET
Labour is not only a source of income, but also a source of social inclusion and integration for people. The integration of disadvantaged people in type B cooperatives is one of the primary actions for promoting and supporting employment.Type B cooperatives provide a precious social outcome thanks to a pattern for professional integration combining job offers to empowerment processes and professional re-establishment.
TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT
Most of Kairos activities are carried out in the Employment and Training Department, the so called “Active Job Policies”. In this area, kairos is currently running almost 30 projects, in partnership with local public and private institutions, especially involving people from the most disadvantaged social groups and people with special needs. More than 40 guidance practitioners and skilled professionals are committed to: a) promoting the integration of people into the job market, especially those who have more problems; b) supporting local employers in HR management; c) searching to match the right people with the right jobs on the local job market. Kairos’ goal is to help as many unemployed people as possible into jobs that last. To reach this goal, Kairos works in close partnership with public and pivate stakeholders and institutions, in order to provide services that are functional to the community as a whole, and not just to parts of it.
In 2010 Kairos carried out 22 projects, involving almost 500 people, in 2012, the number of projects grew to 35 and the amount of people managed by the group was around 700. Kairos mostly works with the weakest social groups: detainees, people who suffered from alchool or drug addiction, HIV, immigrants and people with special needs.
In 2011, a new sector on International projects was created, aimed at designing and implementing projects on the social inclusion, training and employment of the weakest social groups and of people with special needs.
Main interests areas include: Employment, Training, Immigration and International mobility.
The Sector is happy to work and establish new partnerships with associations, organizations, private and public companies at local, regional and national level.
