Comune di Pordenone

The Municipality of Pordenone is a local public entity. Pordenone is the 3rd main city of Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region. It is situated close to the border with Austria and Slovenia and has a population of about 51.000 inhabitants, 140.000 considering the wide area.
Pordenone is a post-industrial city due to the presence of several industries (from 1950 until now). In the municipal territory, most of the enterprises are in the sector of commerce, but there is also a relevant presence of enterprises of other sectors, such as manufacture activities, buildings, accommodation and food service and commerce. Another characteristic of Pordenone economy is the presence of big industries in its territory.
The EU project unit was funded in 2014 in order to internationalize the city and bring innovative solution for the urban development. The main topics of Pordenone’s EU projects are environment, sustainable mobility, social services and youth policies. In 2020 Pordenone signed an “Agreement for EU policies” with other 16 smaller municipalities of the area (Porcia, Zoppola, Roveredo in Piano, Fontanafredda, Cordovado, San Quirino, Spilimbergo, Valdobbiadene, Azzano Decimo, Casarsa della Delizia, San Vito al Tagliamento, Tavagnacco, Maniago, Cordenons, Pasiano di Pordenone, Sesto al Reghena) aimed at implementing projects and strategies at a wider level.
The Municipality of Pordenone is very active in youth policies. It has been hosting for more than 20 years the Youth Information center, which became an important point of reference for young people who are looking for a job or for volunteering, study and travel opportunities. Taking into account this important role, in 2015, the EU Projects Unit decided to become the most important European information point in the province area, first joining the Eurodesk network and taking over in 2017 the management of the Europe Direct information center until 2021. With this spirit, in 2019 the institution also joined the Euroguidance network.
