Comune di Oristano

The Municipality of Oristano pursues the following aims:
- Fostering broad and fair distribution of public services on the city territory;
- Strengthening their citizens’ quality of life by providing services that best respond to the citizens’ needs and assuring a fair and sustainable use of public spaces, the accessibility of the city and their services, in particular to the disadvantaged citizens.
- Promoting the coordination of public and collective actors on the territory, giving value to free forms of association, voluntary corps and participatory groups.
- Fostering local entrepreneurship in respect of the workers’ rights, the association for economic purposes and cooperation.
- Promoting the development of the cultural, ethnic, linguistic, historical, artistic and archeological heritage, in cooperation with other public, private and third sector subjects.
- Promoting good practices in the field of equal opportunities for women and men, supporting the presence of both sexes in the city’s governing bodies.
- Granting the right for youth to autonomously and actively participate in the social life of the city and having voice about youth-related matters.
The Municipality of Oristano promotes the safeguard of life, peace, cooperation and human rights, repelling all forms of racism and violence, and fosters cultural, economic and social exchange with other comunities both in Italy and abroad.

In order to foster youth participation and socialization, in 2013 the Municipality of Oristano opened “Spazio Giovani”, a Youth Centre that quickly became a meeting point for young citizens.
