Centro Culturale Fonti San Lorenzo

The Cultural Centre was born in the early 90s, by renovating a farmhouse and the surrounding abandoned park. Now, it is apermanent venue for the activities of the association supported by an agreement with the local council. The ONLUS association has grown over time, working hard to create a collaborative and democratic meeting space, for cultural and community based proposals. Over the past 25 years, the Centre has involved young people "of all ages" of Recanati in a variety of recreational, cultural and social initiatives. These initiatives, of either a voluntary or organized nature are based on the values of participation, care and selfrealisation of the individual and collective.
A community centre that provides cultural and social activities, the Cultural Centre Fonti San Lorenzo works everyday for its community encouraging the coexistence and intergenerational exchange among the elderly, adults and children which are the target groups of the Association.
More than 70 boys and girls aged between 6 and 20, daily frequent the daycare centre and the Centro di Aggregazione Giovanile (Youth Centre) – accredited according the LR: 9/2003. This is hosted and managed directly by the association since 2012, in collaboration with the local council of Recanati, which allows the efficient and consistant daily management of the Centre.
Many "young people over 60" meet each other at the Centre; dozens and dozens of musicians of different ages and musical styles use the music room “Oliviero De Quintajé” for an average of over 100 musical practices a year; a varied and eclectic public participate in the various cultural events of the Association, such as “Memorabilia”. “Words and Concerts” (Parole e Concerti) for Oliviero De Quintajé, is the best known cultural event organised by the Centre, which has run for 7 successive years.
Furthermore, additional activities that the centre offers include: the vegetable garden, the basketball, football and bocce courts, the recreation ground, cinema, the creative centre, and the social hall for the elderly.
Also, in 2013 a popular library opened, which has more than 700 books, including books for children, teens and adults. This is a opportunity to share ideas and books, not only for the regular visitors, but for the whole city, this is evidenced by over 150 loaned books and the successful events organised such as collective reading sessions and readings for children.
The Cultural Centre Fonti San Lorenzo is therefore the main community centre of Recanati, offering, thanks to the joint work of volunteers and professional educators, a daily qualified educational service, unique in the area, and proposals related to the culture, art, music, critical consumption, environment, sustainable development and participative democracy.
