Centre Jules Verne

As a non-governmental association of citizens, “Jules Verne” is a Centre of multicultural collaboration, with focus on non-formal education, inter-cultural activities; youth exchange projects and artistic projects for children and young people, but also with special focus on the French and Serbian cultures and language. Centre Jules Verne is doing the promotion of bilingual education /French and Serbian language/ from the very early ages but also is doing the promotion of inter-cultural learnings by presentations of deferents cultures and languages in Europe and others countries and in the world. Our main public are youth, children but also the youth workers and future teachers.
Our main artistic activities revolve around language, theatre, music and art. Those activities are permitting us to organize a lot of interesting creative projects like creating books, booklets, journals, CD-s, theatre plays, participation in theatre festivals in Serbia and in other countries in Europe, participation in organizing one international theatre festival in our city, organization collaboration with other associations from the region active in theatre, art. We also organize a lot of exchange projects in our country but we participate in the same in other countries in Europe
One of the very Important artistic activities is organization of a three day festival named “Jules Vern’s Illumination”. One big international project, created in order to give a young people from our suburb the motivation to react on their reality and to create one international festival (in suburb of 40.000 people) without cultural events. This festival of lanterns, music, light, theatre and street art gather all young person from our local community to participate in:
• training of creation of the lanterns,
• creation of the lanterns
• organizing the creation of lanterns in different schools and association in our local community
• participate to the concerts
• participate in one beautiful promenade of 400 lanterns through our suburb.
We are one of the founder organizations of the network named “Francophonie sans frontieres”. The main goal of this international organization is to promote all kind of activities of “Youth”, by organizing trainings, but at the same time to promote collaboration between all countries interested by the Francophony. The founder associations are from Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Bulgaria, Albania and Moldavia.
One of very important activity of our structure is also the project of Local volunteering. Our association is participating in this project as a host association from 2007 with a association VCV from Novi Sad /coordinating this project/ with other associations from Novi Sad. We were the first and now the oldest partner for this project with VCV.
Our association is accredited as an association of interest for the youth by the Serbian Ministry of sport and youth and we are also active in offering non-formal education.
According to all this the main activities of the Center Jules Verne are:
- Cooperation with international organizations in order to organize the trainings for young people and youth workers; job shadowing, sending and hosting activities of volunteers for projects EVS, organization of youth exchange projects around the artistic activities, inter-cultural learning
- Cooperation with local organizations in order to organize the artistic projects or projects of education of youth or youth workers
- Cooperation with the University in order to development of education in general: to develop the capacities of the teachers and students to use the different methods of non formal education in the work with the children and youth, organizing the internships for the students future teachers.
- Promotion of non formal education and its evaluation (We are also accredited by the Ministry of labor of Serbia with a project to host the local volunteers) but also we have succeeded to evaluate the voluntary work of the students in our organization at the University and they can have same extra points for diploma.
-Promotion of the early learning of the foreign language by
• Organization of the bilingual kindergarten
• Organization of the French-language education by theater, storytelling, workshops, games etc…
- Promotion of the youth active participation on the local cultural activities by
• Organizing a big festival "The Julesvernien's illuminations" - an international festival of light, music and lanterns which lasts three days
• Participation on the theater festivals and organization of the theater days in the local community
- Cooperation with kindergartens,
- Cooperation with others organization in order to promote organization of concerts and art exhibitions with charitable aim for children with fewer material conditions and cooperation with institutions in charge of such children
