CEDE Foundation is a registered charity with Charity Number 1126753 and a company limited by guarantee (No. 06571807). CEDE Foundation acts as a resource for young people by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of educational and other activities as a means of advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals. We provide a range of opportunities to support people at the margins of society and those who experience multiple disadvantages, including young NEET and BME groups, homeless people and substance misuse. To achieve the greatest impact, CEDE Foundation works on five interlinking fronts to achieve lasting change which include; Social Inclusion; Recycling and Regeneration; Employment and Skills Development; Active Citizenship and Democratization; Arts, Culture and Heritage.
CEDE Foundation provides skills training interventions to support economically inactive individuals, job seekers and marginalised groups, through various ‘skills for work’ and ‘lifelong skills’ training which help economically inactive individuals, job seekers and marginalised groups to move closer to employment as well as overcome social segregation. We have successfully delivered numerous employability skills projects supporting young people who are not in education employment or training (NEET) to acquire skills that enabled them to become economically active citizens. Some of our recent employability skills training for young NEET include ESF-Back to work support, Lloyds Bank Group Community Fund, People’s Postcode Lottery, A4A Greater Manchester young NEET employability skills programme. As an accredited training provider of AQA Unit Award Scheme courses, CEDE Foundation has helped many young people who are not in education employment or training (NEET) to acquire skills that supported them to become economically active citizens. The UAS can help participants with progression to further study, training, employment and independent living, it can be used to motivate, encourage, engage, support and raise self-esteem. It rewards achievement that otherwise might go unrecognized. CEDE Foundation is also a member of Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network (GMLPN), giving the charity access to a range of opportunities and resources to support young people.
CEDE Foundation’s music therapy project funded by “One Family Foundation” supported over 300 young people with complex and Special Education Needs, across Greater Manchester. We are currently providing therapeutic music lessons to 16 Greater Manchester Special Education Needs schools catering for young people with special educational needs, including, PMLD and SLD, and ASD/ASC respectively. At CEDE Foundation, our music and health initiatives are designed to bring the benefits of music to as many young people as possible through the charity’s “Singing Festival” (www.singingfestival.org.uk) bringing a broader range of musical opportunities to more young people through flexible short-term projects. Some of these are particularly aimed at young people who might find it difficult to access music without tailored and sensitively delivered music services.
The charity’s health and wellbeing initiatives deliver health and fitness activities to young people through a range of sporting activates and awareness courses.
We collaborate with a number of local and national voluntary sector organisations in project design, delivery and monitoring. We are a member of Locality and this offers us great opportunity to collaborate with other member organisations.
We are particularly inspired to encourage and engage more young people throughout the UK in the European Volunteering Service and are also poised to welcome young people from across Europe to volunteer in the UK. As a member of the Greater Manchester Greater Manchester Voluntary Sector Employer Skills Group, we have vast experience in supporting young people and in the area of developing social capital among young people, empowering young people and inspiring them to participate actively in society, as active citizens and in democratic life in Europe. Our chief executive officer has been involved in the British Council Active Citizens Leadership programme and has extensively supported young people in transforming their social action ideas into social enterprise.
CEDE Foundation has extended its activities to Ordsall and Langworthy neighbourhood of Salford City Council, helping young people. Ordsall and Langworthy rank in the top 10% of most deprived areas in the UK and has a high number of young people not in Education; Employment or Training (NEET) and the percentage NEET is double the Salford average.
CEDE Foundation also uses her active involvement in regeneration, including our Salford Hope Centre project to engage young people, helping them to understand how local projects can be connected with global issues concerning young people, such as climate change. Our heritage projects support young people to understand their cultural identity or the individuals and events that shaped their communities. These have been found to be particularly appealing to young people, helping them to explore the stories behind places and objects while introducing the potential for hands-on experience.
