Bursa Metropolitan Municipality- Directorate of Research and Development

Directorate of R & D contributes to business processes carried out by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality by developing innovative services, application and project ideas in order to increase efficiency and effectivity in many areas ranging from transportation to environment, from science affairs to reconstruction and urbanism studies, from health affairs to cultural and art activities.

Our directorate continues to conduct its activities and studies with three units, R & D Unit, Smart City Unit and Fund Research Unit.

R & D Unit:
• To explore worldwide examples in the field of public services and local administrations, to follow developments, to develop innovative services, application and project ideas by evaluating researches and to share with the relevant departments of the Municipality
• To conduct research, review, analysis and reporting activities for effective and efficient use of municipal resources.
• To conduct research and development studies to improve municipal services or to create new services.
• To carry out projects to promote innovation culture within the institution

Smart City Unit:
• To perform the Bursa smart city strategy studies and action plan
• To build the city's smart city vision and roadmap
• To develop smart urbanization applications and software
• To conduct research and development activities in the field of smart urbanism

Fund Research Unit:
•Regularly to follow national and international calls for proposals
• To inform the relevant departments about the sources of funds utilizable to our municipality
• To develop projects for project proposals (funding sources) that are open or to be opened in line with the needs of our municipality
• To carry out the preparation of the project proposals, application processes and project activities for the projects to be executed by R & D Directorate
• To manage the application process from the preparation of the project proposal with the support of the executive units to the period to gain right to receive a grant
• To carry out necessary research studies to find project partners at national and international level
• To develop collaborative projects with district municipalities, public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations
• To investigate good project samples at national and international level
• To provide training for writing projects to our Municipality personnel in case of need
