Project environment
Brønderslev is located i the North of Denmark, has about 12.000 inhabitants and the third largest city in the region. The municipal has 36.000 habitants. It is located 26 kms. from Aalborg, the “capital” of the region and is connected with Aalborg by bus and train every hour.
The airport , with regular flights to Copenhagen, London, and other european destinations is located 30 kms. away.

Description of the organisation

Brønderslev Ungdomsskole is a municipal organisation, an our assignment is:
“... to give youngsters the opportunity to consolidate and study thoroughly their abilities, give them an understanding and qualify themselves as citizens, and contribute in giving them a existence a increased content as well as developing their interest for and ability to an active participation in a democratic society”.

Leisure time training;

The target group here is from 13 – 18 years, and the training takes place in the afternoon, evening and weekends – always after school or on school holidays. The training is for free, but
The leisure training starts in October and ends in April, where the youngsters show what the have learned during the season.

Clubs
Fritidsklub
Club where children between 10-14 years come after school. The parents sign the children in, but they can come and go as they please.
The activities are based on the interests and mainly creative, but always with a focus on supporting the
We have 3 “fritidsklubber” located in the 3 biggest towns in Brønderslev Kommune, and the opening hours is 12.00 – 17.00 Monday – Friday. The club is closed in July.

Ungdomsklub
Club for youngsters between 13-18 years, here they sign themselves in. Opening hours is typically 19.00 – 22.00 a few days a week, between September and April.
We have 11 “Ungdomsklubber” located around the municipal.

TV Youth
One of the EVS will be connected to our small TV station, TV Ungdom (TV Youth), working daily with TV programs. This spans from early planning, contacts to youngsters, filming, mastering sounds and editing programs. In all...anything regarding a TV program. For the most parts in corporation with youngsters who wants to learn about making TV programs.

Our TV station are sponsored by The Ministry of Media and Library, which means that we have to produce 2 hours of TV each week, and one hour of reruns. The programs are broadcasted in the northern region of Denmark. Parallel with broadcasting, TV Ungdom have a YouTube Canal. You can see some of our productions here; www.youtube.com/tvungdom.

Volunteers
3 volunteers will be connected to the clubs, where he/she will make activities for and with the kids/youngsters age 10 – 18 years.
The primary aim for the volunteers is to ensure that the children/youngsters have the possibility to participate in activities for and with children of their own age. It is very important that the volunteer can work independently and start projects on their own. We prefer volunteers who have skills and experience within sports, creative activities or making film/video ( documentation).
1 volunteer will be working at our Youth TV station, where he/she will be filming and editing programs for and with children and youngsters from the whole municipal.

Volunteers must have a driver license ! We do not accept volunteers without driver license.

We can offer
Fully equiped apartment with kitchen, living room and seperate rooms for each volunteer, located in the center of Brønderslev. The 3 volunteers share a car for transport to the clubs. In their sparetime the volunteers can use the car for free ( 150 km. pr. month) . Besides pocketmoney (140 euro) - we pay each volunteer 200,- euro to cover food expences.

Project
Our project starts 15.th of August 2013 and runs until 14. august 2014 with 4 volunteers from Germany, United Kingdom, Spain and Greece.

Example of a volunteers day.......
Working in the clubs:
Fritidsklub 12.00 – 17.00 and twice a week you will work in a youth club 18.30 – 22.00.
Working at the Youth TV
Daily 10.00 – 16.00 furthermore there will be activities to film during weekends.
In the morning - once every second week you will meet with your mentor, and there will be staff meeting once a month.
