Bildungsnetzwerk Magdeburg

The Bildungsnetzwerk Magdeburg gGmbH is a youth educational centre situated in a Wilhelminian style villa with surrounding parks. We are able to accomodate and cater up to 105 people, offering multiple guest and seminar rooms. In our youth educational sector we organize our own seminars and projects and offer space for other institutions to host regional, supraregional and international workshops, seminars, conferences, and experts' meetings.
In our own work, we focus on the following aspects:
- process- and product-oriented active media work: we focus on giving youth an efficient platform for sharing their views on the world
- political education: to have basic and in-depth knowledge of the political and social structures in which we live helps to understand mechanisms and power structures in Germany as well as on a European level; fostering youth participation processes is thus our aim
- workshops on: intercultural competences, communication, team development, networks
- trainings to: gain/expand professional and soft skills and abitilities
- international youth exchanges
- trainee offers for international youth in the gastronomy and service sector
Our main target group are young people between 12 and 27 years. We work with professional trainers and creatives to guarantee a thematical focus as well as methods fit to the group of participants.

Next to our youth educational branch we are also a multigenerational house. Thus, we try to impact our direct surroundings and work as an integrator for young and old(er) people living in the district of Ottersleben. In taking on this task we try to expand our work and to organize regular offers to foster intergenerational dialogues:
- open meeting space
- regular sports and creative courses
- organization of festivities for kindergarden and school children and their parents/grandparents - summer BBQ, christmas celebrations, reading nights etc.
- dance nights
- computer and internet skills courses
- regular cafés with different topics

We also serve as a training facility for youth in the gastronomy and service sector and currently educate three young trainees during the practical parts of their vocational training.

On top of that, we are location and host organisation for young volunteers in the area of the FSJ (voluntary social year) in culture as well as the European Voluntary Service/European Solidarity Corps. Within one year, two volunteers carry out a joint media project based on socio-cultural issues relevant for life in Europe. The volunteers are in charge of the concept, the execution and the presentation and find support in all relevant phases of the procedure.
