Beit Almusica

Beit Almusica is a non-profit organization (NGO) established in 1999 by a group of young artists. Our mission is to promote cultural rights of the Palestinian minority in Israel, to enrich society through the development of musical environments, to open prospects for artists, and to interact musically with other cultures. Ten years ago the organization began at the back of a parking place of a store building in Shefa-Amer. Today, Beit Almusica is one of the most renowned Music Centers serving more than 10,000 beneficiaries every year. Establishing the first Arab Conservatory in Israel in 2004 was a milestone. Since then hundreds of children from all over the Galilee have been enrolled at our different programs, showing excellent performances. Other flagship programs include a Yearly Music Festival and our Community Outreach Program. Beit Almusica is a unique organization as it combines Eastern and Western styles and targets the Palestinian community in a culturally sensitive way, as we are part of this same minority.
The seeds that Beit Almusica planted 10 years ago started showing its fruits. We have proven professionalism at all levels: Our students have shown excellent performances at the matriculation exam Bagrut (all Beit Almusica students received grades higher than 90) and among competitions (4 of the 7 participants of the Marcel Khalifa Competition in 2008 won first and second prizes). More than ten scholarships have been awarded to our students by the American-Israel Cultural Fund, our events' turnout has been raising, and more and more institutions recognize the uniqueness of Beit Almusica.
Beit Almusica counts with a committed Board of Directors, six permanent staff members, and 25 professional Arab and Jewish musicians and teachers with different specializations. In addition, we count with broad community support, including civil society organizations, the business community, public institutions, and opinion leaders.
