Bandırma Municipality is a local public authority located in the Marmara Region of Türkiye. Bandırma is a medium-sized coastal city known for its port, agriculture, and industrial activities. The municipality provides essential public services such as urban planning, environment, social support, transportation, and local development.
In recent years, Bandırma Municipality has been working to improve sustainability and the quality of life in the city. Some ongoing efforts include afforestation and reforestation activities, small-scale renewable energy actions such as the municipal solar power plant built in 2017, research on the potential of wind energy in the region, and awareness activities for citizens. The municipality is also involved in projects about waste management, biodiversity protection, and improving public spaces.
Although Bandırma does not have previous experience with Erasmus+ projects, the municipality is open to learning, cooperation, and building new partnerships. We have participated in discussions and early activities under several European initiatives (such as NetZeroCities and CIVITAS), mainly as part of learning programs, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. These experiences help the municipality understand European approaches to climate action, mobility, and sustainable urban development.
Bandırma Municipality values practical solutions, community participation, and cooperation with universities, NGOs, and local stakeholders. By joining Erasmus+ partnerships, the municipality aims to strengthen its international network, develop skills of municipal staff, and bring new ideas to the city through collaborative learning activities.
