Ayuntamiento de Camprovín

The town council of Camprovín is carrying out a program to promote rural live and fight against rural population drift, that is why young people is so important. The town hall is encouraging employment, tourism and education, and it is embracing a refuge family. Everything under the concepts of sustainability and rural development and from a contemporary perspective. The EVS would be inside the program of cultural and social dinamization and tourism promotion, taking part in the cultural and social part, not really in tourism.

The volunteer activities will be in relation with art, environment, and rural development. The volunteers will help and develop workshops and activities for children, young people, adults or elder people, inhabitants or foreigners. An important part of the volunteers work will be the promotion.  We would also like to encourage volunteers initiative, so they will be able to create their own activities.

Camprovín has 150 inhabitants and it is located in La Rioja at 667 metros of altitude, at the foot of Moncalvillo mountains. It is 10 km from Nájera, the closest city, and 35 from Logroño, capital of La Rioja, and 350 km from Madrid. The temperature does not exceed 35 celsius in mid summer and can go as well as -7 celsius in mid winter.Traditionally Camprovín has lived off farming, with vineyards as main crop. Actually there is a cold meat factory, and tourism is also important, because of the extraordinary landscape and because it is close to the monasteries of San Millán de La Cogolla y Valvanera. During summer the population increases and there is more young people and children, while in winter the population is aged, although there is still school.
