AWO Unterbezirk Dortmund

Arbeiterwohlfahrt e. V. (AWO) is a decentralized German welfare association built on personal memberships in its local associations. It is one of the six Spitzenverbände der freien Wohlfahrtspflege (top associations of independent welfare) with around 210,000 full-time employees across Germany. The main task of the AWO is to support socially disadvantaged people. Today it primarily cares for people with disabilities and seniors, but it also runs kindergartens, open all-day schools, psychiatric and forensic clinics, facilities for holiday recreation and youth clubs, as well as counseling centers for migrants, asylum seekers, and people in need.

We are the Migration Team and advise people who migrate to Germany in the first years of their stay. We assist with learning German, help with job search or recognition of school and professional qualifications. We also develop many projects and services for migrants, children, youths, adults, or the neighborhood. We have a garden where we, together with many other organizations and partners, run various programs for young and old people.
