AWEN-Albanian Women Empowerment Network

During this period AWEN has increased the cooperation between members of the network through more active and participatory meetings, increased visibility and network activities through participation in joint national causes as Women participation in political life, national lobbying and advocacy, etc.
AWEN has been enlarged with a new and very active organization in fighting violence against women in Albania this year.
AWEN has also increased the number of donors and supporters beside its main supporter Kvinna Till Kvinna this past year such as: Mediterranean Women Fund, National Agency for the Support of Civil Society, and UN Women Albania.
AWEN structure is:
1. General Assemble of network members
2. Executive Board;
3. Executive Director;
The General Assemble is the highest structure of the organization and it is composed by members and staff of each organization, not only by network members and other members who support the network.
The Board is made up of 7 members; 4 of whom are internal members, executive directors of the organizations that are members of the network, and 3 of them are distinguished figures of the social activism life in the country.
According to AWEN strategic planning women empowerment in general is AWEN main goal and more specific areas are:
• Violence Against Women
• Women economic empowerment
• Women’s political participation
