Atelier Wolimierz

Though Atelier Wolimierz was registered in January 2014, the people behind the foundation have had a history of community involvement for many years prior to the foundation’s official recognition. Individuals have been working, and continue to work together: promoting grassroots cultural growth and cooperative welfare elevation, namely the standard of living for rural inhabitants.
The rolling rural landscape of the Jizera Mountains backdrops the village of Pobiedna, home to our foundation. The Atelier Wolimierz doors are open to those young in body or soul. The foundation aims to promote culture and art, through the belief that such participation may in fact encourage social competence. In turn, social competence may develop the appropriate conditions for creative genesis as well as constructive group-based activity. Important to note is that those living far from urban influence are now allowed equal opportunity. Villagers are not victim to cultural exclusion.
Furthermore, volunteers work hand in hand with the locals, in order to make Atelier Wolimierz possible. We have hosted over 30 this year; volunteers from Holland, England, Israel, Australia, Japan, Romania, Czech Republic, Germany, France, and USA offered their help, through websites www.workaway.info and www.helpx.net. They helped with locale renovations. As much as 80% of building material utilized was of recycled origin. Today this space functions as a workshop, concert venue, and lively meeting place.
A variety of artistic activity is promoted here: up-and-coming graffiti artists are allowed access to walls, and we teach construction methods involving tires, glass bottles, cans, and other societal waste, as we demonstrate an ecologically-friendly lifestyle. We attempt to create conditions allowing for innovative creation, always keeping in mind the future, our children’s future, and the future of our children’s children.
Our most important activity is organizing concerts for nearby residents. Starting in February of 2014, and continuing at least once every month since, we host bands and musicians of various genres, always keeping quality in mind regardless of the style.
