The L.C.D. Onlus born in Palermo in 1982 by a group of families sensitive to the problems of drug addiction, which, disappointed expectations of help from the public institutions, seek a solution to the emergency drug self-managed. The L.C.D. Onlus is an operational presence constantly at the service of the social fabric, it is proposed as a node within the social network, the reference point can offer advice, information, training, management services, help and / or collaboration to those who do request: individual, family, public and private institutions.Furthermore, the L.C.D. Onlus, as Auxiliary Organisation, plays a complementary role to the institutional (Ser.te related services), providing users an all-out, to become available opportunity, but also an alternative, functional recovery and strengthening social.
LCD Onlus Association is aimed at:
• Who makes use of narcotics, psychotropic, alcohol and their families;
• To those, individuals and families, requiring counseling, support and psychological treatment;
• To the services of the healthcare sector of the territory;
• The public / private and social institutions of the territory.
• To the young professionals.
• To the family, as a valuable resource to be reassessed.
• Detainees.
• To the young and not so young people with fewer opportunities and lack the means to achieve them.
• The people who accept the challenge to get involved and want to share the adventure, participating in a project of social sharing and collective growth ..
The TEAM
The L.C.D. - NPO has inside psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, educators, social workers, criminologists, educators, leaders, volunteers and computer operators, graphic designers, journalists, actors, writers, counselors, trainers (...) that operate at various levels and with different roles and functions for the achievement of the social aims united by the same "work style".
Our organization from 1999 has promoted many local and international activities aimed at social inclusion of young volunteers with social disadvantage. Promoted, as partner, non-formal education projects by facilitating the participation of volunteers with disabilities or people with fewer opportunities. Our youth programs are directed and coordinated by a young man and three youth workers.
The organization has had the role of promoting active participation in all the activities proposed, to prepare the participants during the activities, facilitating group processes, intercultural learning during major international project.
The organization has participated in the evaluation of projects, the dissemination of information on projects and results, information and dissemination of good practices in implementing projects through the organization of seminars.
The Association carries out the following activities:
• Activities of welcome and orientation to drug addicts;
• Welcome to the families and groups of self-help;
• Prevention interventions in schools;
• Interventions of secondary prevention in prisons for drug addicts detained;
• Interventions of outreach aimed at teenagers from the suburbs of the city;
• Training activities aimed at teaching professionals in the social sector;
• Activities link and update with therapeutic communities and voluntary groups operating in the country;
• Press release on drug problems and the problems of the youth condition.
