Associazione Demetra

Associazione Demetra is a non governmental organization that works in the fields of youth gathering, performing art, non-formal and peer education. Associazione Demetra was founded in 2004 by a group of young creative with the aim of organizing artistic and creative projects. Since 2005 the association manages a youth center of the Municipality of Terni, that is a multifunctional place, a cultural space and an artistic residence well known also internationally. Demetra works daily to encourage creativity, culture and participation. We organize events, festivals and training sessions primarily about music, theatre, performing art, visual art, graphic design, video and all the mixture and interconnection between different languages of art. We are also in network with groups, artist, associations that work locally, nationally and internationally. In 2015 Associazione Demetra designed and implemented “IAPPA-Incontri di Apprendimento Partecipativo”, www.iappa.it, a crowdlearning web portal for the promotion and dissemination of non-formal education in Italy.
Demetra, in partnership with other stakeholders, has been officially recognized as a regional artistic residence and supported by Umbria Region.

Right now Demetra is engaged in:
- the project “Risveglia la città”("Awaken the city") a guerriglia art laboratory for young people to explore the connections between themselves and the surrounding space, with the aim to stimulate creativity, participation and respect in the relationship with the urban landscape.
-The project "Concerto dai Balconi" winner of the SIAE and MiBACT prize in the field of Urban periphery. A great event in October in the degraded old market district carried out through a participatory process with local residents and young artists in different creative fields.
