Compagnons Bâtisseurs is an NGO founded in 1957. From the very beginning up until today, CBF has been putting the principle of solidarity into practice in the form of workcamps, as well as promoting peace and better understanding between people from all over the world.
Compagnons Bâtisseurs works with families and people in needs who are facing social and economical difficulties to improve their own living conditions.
The main objective is to give them the means to reinvest their home and be involved in a new and positive dynamic. We are working along with the owner or the tenant of the house or flat, and sometimes with neighbours, friends or relatives. We are providing a concrete technical support (painting, plumber, electricity, carpentry…).
Volunteers work in one of the 12 local organizations in France, and can share a collective life. It could be long volunteering or small ones as we encourage the mobility of youngsters with fewer opportunities.
The organisation is also encouraging :
- the participation of everybody to develop specific actions and workshops, linked with non formal education methods;
- mobility among the network and abroad through many projects, trainings and meetings;
- social workcamps (for 2 or 3 weeks) to construct or to renovate buildings such as social centers, community buildings or heritage buildings (old fountains, washhouses…).
