The Association for the Development of Life skills is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, whose aim is to offer opportunities of personal development for children and adults, in areas of emotional skills, interpersonal relationships and learning skills (Life skills).
What Are Life Skills?
Life skills include three dimensions that we focus on:
1. Personal development:
Self-awareness, Self-knowledge, Self-control, Self-acceptance, Self-respect, Self-esteem, Confidence.
2. Interpersonal relationships:
Communication skills, respect for diversity, empathy, acceptance, collaboration, love.
3.Learning Skills:
How I think, how I learn, how my mind works.
Who We Are
The Association was founded in 2004 by a group of educators and parents who wanted to contribute to the provision of opportunities for personal development and formally acknowledged in 2006. Since then, the number of members has increased rapidly and includes persons from a variety of occupations.
Our Activities
The organization of local and international seminars, workshops and lectures for the development of Life Skills for young people and adults.
The organization of activities and workshops for children and young adults on the development of life skills.
The training of educators, parents and others who are interested in non formal methods of developing Life Skills.
Cooperation with schools, local and regional organizations, groups and associations in Cyprus.
Cooperation with international educational groups and institutes.
Participation in international conferences and seminars.
European programs:
- We are involved in a Grundtvig learning partnership, titled "Social Integration through Education", for the period 2011-2013.
- We organise the Grundtvig In-Service Training Course "Improving Life Skills through Adult Education" listed on the Salto Training Calendar and the European Comenius/Grundtvig database.
- Our upcoming project (planned to begin in 2012): Comenius In-Service Training Course "Social and Emotional Learning: Experience the Power of Education"
Our Project Topics
Healthy relationships, parenting seminars, communication skills, development of self-esteem, development of E.Q., setting and accomplishing goals, theatre games and role-play, group dynamics, social cohesion, European identity, respecting diversity, etc.
