Association “Azbukari” is an independent non-governmental organisation established in 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The organisation works to promote education, cultural development, and social inclusion of children through innovative educational initiatives, public projects, and socially engaged campaigns.
Its mission is to create an environment where every child – regardless of background or abilities – has access to quality learning, inspiration, and equal opportunities for growth.

Mission and Values

The organisation’s mission is to build communities where children grow up with love for knowledge, Bulgaria, and humanity.
It believes education should nurture both knowledge and character – encouraging values such as patriotism, empathy, responsibility, tolerance, and creativity.
By combining Bulgarian cultural traditions with modern pedagogical methods, Azbukari helps children navigate today’s world while staying connected to their roots.

Main Areas of Work

Educational products and games – development of interactive learning tools such as Bukvarino and The Children’s Map of Bulgaria, promoting literacy, curiosity, and national identity.

Inclusive learning spaces – creation of educational and play environments accessible to children with special needs, integrating learning, art, and nature.

National and international initiatives – organisation of festivals, campaigns, and programmes that encourage civic participation, volunteering, and cultural awareness.

Partnership and expertise – collaboration with schools, municipalities, universities, and private stakeholders to introduce innovative and sustainable solutions in education and social policy.

Projects and Achievements

Azbukari has successfully implemented numerous projects at both national and cross-border levels, funded by the European Union and various national programmes.
These include initiatives under the European Social Fund, Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes, as well as educational and infrastructure projects supporting social inclusion, accessibility, and cultural integration.

Over six infrastructure projects improving educational access and inclusion.

Collaboration with more than 1,300 schools across Bulgaria.

Dozens of national and international campaigns with thousands of participants.

Team and International Cooperation

The organisation’s multidisciplinary team brings together professionals from education, social work, culture, media, and project management.
Azbukari has proven administrative and organisational capacity in managing projects funded by EU and national programmes.
It is open to international partnerships, exchange of good practices, youth mobility, and joint educational and social initiatives that promote equality, inclusion, and innovation.
