As regards its legal identity, the Harghita Business Center incubator is an NGO, a partly publicly funded organization founded by three municipalities and led by an enthusiastic and dynamic operational management team that provides legal, economic and marketing advice to incubated start-ups companies. HBC gives home to 55 start-ups but often provides space for programs and events organized by partners. Through our programs, our primary goal is to help young people in their professional self-fulfilment, and where appropriate, to start a business as well. We have a direct relationship with many of the stakeholders regarding the region's economy: residents, local companies, media, employees, government, competitors, business associations, activists, and developers.
Since 2018 we also involved the 11th-grade students in our programs, by organizing training for development of entrepreneurial competencies based on self-knowledge, called Future Makers, where they gain knowledge and skills that help them adapt to an entrepreneurial approach.
It is not our primary goal to increase the number of businesses at all costs, but for students to learn to take responsibility for themselves, for their work. And get to know themselves better through the business mindset.
At the moment, Harghita Business Center is participating in an Erasmus+ small scale project – KA210 - for young people on the subject of career orientation, job searching and becoming an entrepreneur with a Hungarian and a Slovak partner. Also, we have an ongoing Operational Programme Human Capital 2014-2020 project, Future Builders - active learning at work through internship programs in the commercial field. The project aims to facilitate the insertion into the labour market of future graduates of upper secondary education, especially in the commercial field through professional counselling and to ensure participation in apprenticeship programs at a potential job during internships.
