Asociación Sociocultural Grupo Cinco Cuenca

We are a non-profit association which work with children, teenagers and young people from 0 to 30 years old in a situation of vulnerability or risk of social disadvantage.
From the entity we work to improve the reality of people and transform the community using social work and sociocultural animation as tools for change and transformation. Serving a large number of municipalities distributed throughout the province of Cuenca.
Within the childhood, teenager sense and family program we have several projects:
- La Brújula: it is a socio-educational resource, of specialized attention aimed at both normalized childhood and teenagers, as well as those who are at risk or socially disadvantaged. It is developed from the field of non-formal education and leisure and free time, generating an alternative to the risk situation in which children, teenagers and youth (NNAJ) may find themselves. It works following the Child Rights Approach and from the Service-Learning intervention model, achieved through community participation, a fundamental axis in La Brújula. Children and teenagers are made participants as active members with full rights in community life. The project places great emphasis on the consequences and effects in the short and long term caused by the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and other substances in childhood and teenagersence. It is about working from the selective and indicated prevention of drugs, through a specific intervention with each of the participants.
- Compás de la Brújula: the program aims to prevent and accompany the socialization process of children and teenagers participating in La Brújula and the training of those families that require it, in the development of their maternal-parental functions. collaborating in minimizing the possible difficulties and responding to their training needs, in essential aspects of the home such as: healthy and adequate life habits, strengthening of affective ties between the members of the family unit and training for the development of the function socializer and caregiver of the family, in a normalized way. All this under the supervision and in absolute coordination with the Social Services team.
- Puertas abiertas: summer camp aimed at boys, girls and teenagers from 6 to 18 years old. It starts from the basis of not being boring; respect the autonomy of the group; make fun, creation and learning compatible; make individual and shared leisure compatible. And of course, we take into account that the group is the centre of the action and the protagonist of its own process, based on participation and communication. The camp arises from the need for a space for coexistence and recreation, as well as vacations outside their localities. Another important part of the boys and girls come from populations that suffer territorial exclusion due to lack of population, finding themselves in some cases without playmates in the localities where they reside. For them it is quite an experience, because in some cases they come from other countries where they have not had the opportunity to swim in a pool. They learn to be more tolerant, to live with people who are not from their environment, make new friends, share a room, play games, activities and participate in decision-making. Children are freed from the watchful eye of their parents and experience a sense of freedom and responsibility that can only be experienced outside the home.
- Patios inclusivos: try to improve the distribution of space and provide it with more resources for leisure, learning and entertainment. It pursues that the courtyards of primary and secondary education centres are living spaces and for everyone, and not exclusively, sports fields. Thus, the project is developed together with the boys, girls, teachers and family, together with the Entity's monitors. It is designed taking into account the interests of the students based on their own proposal. Once agreed with the entire educational community, both the floor and the walls of the patio are painted by everyone.
- Puente: project that aims to meet the specific educational needs of a socio-educational nature of students at risk of school and/or social exclusion, for those students in whom the ordinary measures applied in the centres have not had an effect. Facilitating the return to regulated or non-regulated academic and/or training activity or promoting access to a job opportunity for young people, who do not have the intention/possibility of continuing with academic and/or training activity.
