Asociación IN GÉNERO (Interculturalidad y Género)

The Association "IN GÉNERO" (Interculturality and Gender) is a non-profit organization whose objective is to defend the human and fundamental rights of people in situations of prostitution and victims of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
In 2005 the Association was established, immediately initiating socio-sanitary actions with the group. Currently, the IN GÉNERO Association is actively intervening in 6 autonomous communities: Madrid, Andalusia, Castilla-la Mancha, Extremadura, Castilla y León and Murcia.

The purposes of the entity are:

- We carry out a comprehensive and multidisciplinary intervention through:
Legal orientation.
Psychological assistance.
Labor orientation.
Social accompaniment and guidance on procedures, organizations and resources.
Sanitary accompaniment.
24 hours emergency service.
- Promote equality and the integration of people in all areas of life, especially with those people immersed in processes of social exclusion.
- Evaluate and work in depth on the integration problems presented by some specific groups of people, especially women immersed in prostitution, human trafficking and trafficking or processes of social exclusion, derived from these phenomena.
- Actively fight for the eradication of the mafias of sexual exploitation, trafficking and human trafficking, through information, advice and complaint programs, as well as for the defense of the human rights of these victims.
- Participate actively in the development of Programs and Projects that improve the health and quality of life of people who practice prostitution, especially health and social, intercultural, educational, training, insertion projects, etc.
- Establish collaboration networks with Associations, NGOs, Institutions or groups, for the common development of regional, national and transnational Programs and Projects and especially with the countries of the South.
- Create an awareness of solidarity and participation in the issues of Gender, Equality and Social Exclusion through the activities of the Association.

To achieve these goals, the IN GÉNERO Association directs its intervention to:
- Fight against trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation and any other type of violence against women. Give employment and social options to people who find themselves in a situation of prostitution, since there are people forced into prostitution, but there are also people who carry out this activity because they cannot find other options.
- Have a presence in places of prostitution (clubs, houses, flats and streets) to be at the side of people in situations of prostitution and trafficking, to inform this group of their rights, denounce exploitation networks and accompany them in social and sanitary process (such as being a link to provide access to public health, social services...)
- Develop participatory actions together with people who practice prostitution and victims of trafficking so that they are protagonists of their own personal development and social integration.
- We strengthen our professionalism and commitment to the group, to be an organization that is more efficient and committed every day, to defend the human and fundamental rights of the group. We are committed to being a responsible organization that denounces social injustices, inequality and lack of protection and support for victims of trafficking and people in prostitution. As well as the requirement to provide a comprehensive and holistic response to the diversity of people who practice prostitution and victims of trafficking, distinguishing the reality and characteristics of each problem.
