Asociación Cultural Pinolere

The A.C. Pinolere carries out important work in a community and rural development project. It is located in the district of Pinolere, a village of the Villa de La Orotava, with approximately 600 inhabitants, with the aim of dignifying the way of life of its ancestors, farmers, stockbreeders and craftsmen. This cultural entity has developed some important activities during the last years.
The activities carried out by the Pinolere Cultural Association are diverse and complementary, but all of them are aimed at the rural development of the Pinolere neighbourhood. Among its many activities, three areas of action stand out:
- Promotion of popular culture and handicrafts
- Training for children, young people and for employment in the field of rural development and popular culture.
- Research and ethnographic dissemination of the rural culture and heritage of the Canary Islands.

Its most outstanding activity is the organisation and celebration of the Pinolere Crafts Fair, which this year celebrates its 36th edition, recognised as the most important event in the Canary Islands in the field of craftsmanship, bringing together more than 200 craftsmen and women. It is also the promoter of the ten editions of the Canary Islands Cheese Fair.

In terms of ethnographic research and dissemination, the A.C. Pinolere manages the Museum of the Canary Islands. Pinolere manages the Pinolere Ethnographic Museum. In this 3,000m2 site, different aspects of the architectural, agricultural, environmental and socio-cultural landscape characteristic of the rural areas of Tenerife are recreated. There are also two rooms linked to the history of the Canary Islands and an aboriginal archaeological site.

In the field of education and training, a fundamental axis of the association's work, training courses and stays are held every year with children, young people and adults in the field of crafts, popular culture, recovery of trades, etc.
