Asfar

Asfar is a dynamic initiative, designed to inspire, provide a platform and offer a support network to young people, students and graduates specialising in and interested by the Middle East.

Through a quarterly e-Journal, Asfar works with the next generation of the Middle East’s writers, thinkers and photographers to exhibit their abilities to a wide audience. The second edition, released in April 2013, brought together over 30 contributors including volunteer Editors, Writers and Photographers, resulting in a diverse publication offering a wide range of articles and photographs including quixotic subjects such as story telling tradition and Palestinian protest song, Charedi male community in Jerusalem, as well as a Muslims experience during Haj, travellers' tales and photographs from Egypt, Lebanon and Israel and a range of other topics including music, politics of water, history and art.

Focusing on the history, society, culture, development and politics of the Middle East, the Asfar introduces new ideas, innovative articles and magnificent images of the region.

Remaining politically neutral and non-partisan, Asfar investigates a full range of topics: from geography to art, languages to society and from history to cookery. Asfar reviews the past and considers the Middle East's future from a regional, state and local perspective.

Asfar is unique project aimed at promoting the study of the region, the curiosity and personal development of individuals fascinated by the Middle East and ensuring the sustained awareness of an area on the cross roads of history.

From January 2013, Asfar is delivering it's first Youth in Action projects in UK Universities.
