THE ROMANIAN ASSOCIATION OF YOUTH WITH INITIATIVE (ARTI) is today among the most important NGOs in Romania, having earned its reputation through seriousness, consistency, tenacity, and a high volume of dedicated work. ARTI was founded on February 5th, 2003, the date on which it voluntarily took on the GENERAL PURPOSE of promoting active citizenship, civic education, and community development as the key to social progress.
Throughout its 22 years of activity, we have remained committed to our objectives of community engagement, succeeding in building, developing, and replicating an educational model – the Romano-British School. Today, ARTI boasts over 350 projects, with more than 25,000 direct final beneficiaries and a total budget exceeding 20 million euros.
At present, ARTI is implementing 7 large-scale programs aimed at increasing young people’s capacity to respond positively to changes in the social and economic environment and to harness their potential. Each of these umbrella programs includes various projects at the local or national level:
REPER (Romano-British School, the EduBenefits community concept, the platform homelearning.scoalabritanica.ro, and Romania’s first educational social franchise),
STOP ILLITERACY AS HERITAGE (Associated SRB Schools, Summer School in the Countryside),
VOLUNTARIS VOLUNTEERING CENTER (Craiova Half Marathon),
TRAINING CENTER,
CISO (Center for Social Integration and Employment Stimulation),
SUPPORT (Information and Counseling Center for Children and Parents – accredited social service),
EDUTIC – the first applied research center for ICT use in education.
