Arci Servizio Civile Vicenza

Arci Servizio Civile (ASC) was born in 1986 to foster the National Civil Service as a conscientious objection to military service. It was founded by five national associations - ARCI, Uisp, Legambiente, Arciragazzi e Auser – with the common aim of promoting the values of peace, non-violence and Civil Service as a form of education to active citizenship.

Its office in Vicenza started to operate in 2001, working in partnership with other associations, cooperatives, foundations and public bodies (municipalities). Since then, ASC Vicenza creates and coordinates projects in these fields:

*social care for elderly and people with disabilities
*education for children and youngsters
*information points addressed to youngsters and families
*care and protection of artistic and cultural heritage in museums and libraries
*environment and sustainability.

During the year the association is responsible for the recruitment, the training and follow-up of an average of 60 volunteers, between 18 and 29 years old. We are also a sending and hosting organization for ESC volunteers.

Between 2013 and 2018 ASC Vicenza have managed also, on behalf of Vicenza municipality, Polo Giovani B55, a multifunctional space in the city center born to promote socialization, creativity and public debate. The activities who were organzied there are now moved to Porto Burci, our new home: training courses (sewing, artistic carpentry, theatre, dance, etc), movie screenings, exhibitions and seminars about topics in accordance to ASC core values and a web radio called "Radio Zappa" too. The list of activities steadily updates with new ideas and proposals.
