Antiochians Youth Group

Founded in July 2014, our group is a non-formal youth group of 10 people. It has 5 male and 5 female members, including the group leader.

The main place for our activities is Antiochia, the centre of Hatay in Turkey.

We aim to promote social inclusion, cultural development, healthy life, sport, and volunteering. We also aim to socialize young people starting from our group members and help them improve their European culture by trekking, cycling, sportive and cultural activities in Antakya, which is famous for its history and multicultural social structure of millenniums.

Activities

We are conducting several activities to help young people improve their personal development, socialize, strengthen their leadership skills and get a good view of the European culture:

- Reading Everywhere: Reading hours in public parks with young people to promote reading
- Fetch Your Bike: Cycling tours in groups towards near rural settlements to motivate young people to use bicycles and do sport more
- Trekking in History: Trekking towards different historical and touristic destinations to let young people explore the history of the town they live in, live healthily, and become nature friendly
- Like a Roman: Visits to different cultural populations of Hatay, participation in their social, cultural and religious events under the motto “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” in order to meet different cultures, maintain awareness about multiculturalism
- Global Village: Training, support, and promotion of young people about project designing for international cooperation and interaction, especially under European Union funds
