Antalya Directorate of Probation is a public institution established in 2005 in accordance with the Law No. 5402 operating under the Department of Probation of the Ministry of Justice, General Directorate of Prisons ant Detention Houses at the central level, and under the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office at the local level. İt currently provides service in its building located within the Execution Institutions Campus in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya province. The mail mission of our Directorate is to reintegrate young and adult convicts into society by conducting education and rehabilitation activities.
Our Directorate has two main areas of work given by the legislation. The first one is to carry out supervision and follow-up of especially substance addicted convicts and convicts released early from penal institutions under supervised release, in the community, using electronic devices when necessary. The second is to implement training and improvement activities for positive behavior change in order to ensure that convicts are free from substance addiction and integrated into society in a controlled manner. Within the scope of these studies prepared by our Directorate; Education and Improvement Bureau, taking into account the risk and needs analysis of the convict, individual guidance interviews, psycho-social group studies, personal development seminars, film monitoring and evaluation studies, information meetings in cooperation with other institutions, and non-formal trainings based on the ability to find a job and establish a workplace are provided.
The target group of our institution is convicts who are subjected to probation obligations by court decision and all of whom have special needs. The majority of our convicts are disadvantaged people with educational, behavioral and substance abuse problems. In order to solve these problems of our convicts, structured intervention programs with non-formal and informal education methods are implemented by our Education and Rehabilitation Bureau. All of our target group (learners/students) regularly benefit from these programs. The target group we serve are people who have been marginalized by the society due to their criminal past and lifestyle; have low educational, cultural and socio-economic levels; have behavioral and substance abuse problems and for these reasons cannot communicate with the society and are constantly in a criminal environment. In order for these people to reintegrate into society, they should be included in rehabilitation activities in accordance with their special needs.
