AMYCOS

Amycos is a Spanish non-profit organisation, based in Burgos, with 28 years of experience working in international cooperation and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

In the field of international cooperation we support projects in Nicaragua, Bolivia, Guatemala and El Salvador. Since 1996 we have maintained, with contributions from private donors, an educational programme in Nicaragua in which 200 students participate.

At ESD we have edited and published a multitude of materials in different formats: exhibitions, audiovisuals, didactic units, educational worksheets, games, etc. on topics related to the Sustainable Development Goals and Human Rights.

Volunteering is very important for us. We have facilitated the involvement of young spaniards in our projects. For the last 10 years, we have participated in the European Solidarity Corps, as well as in the Universal Civil Service of the Italian Government. Accredited as a hosting and sending organisation of the ESC with the quality seal of the programme.

Amycos has participated in KA1, KA3 and CERV Erasmus+ projects on topics related to youth, active citizenship and interculturality. In 2019 we were approved, as coordinating organisation, for the KA2 project Stairway to SDG to promote the Sustainable Development Goals within Vocational Education and Training through a website and an APP. In 2021 we were approved again in KA2 for the second part of the project, Stairway to SDG 3.0, for which we are developing an e-learning platform and a 2D game until the end of 2024.

Amycos aims to focus its work on informing about the unfair consequences of the climate crisis and promoting sustainability, both in formal and non-formal education. We aim to design useful tools for young people, schools and organisations to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to the ecological transition and the European Green Deal. However, we are also open to other issues that fit in with the organisation’s objectives.
